5 Restaurants In Alcudia To Try

Just under an hour from Palma and North of the island, you’ll find the beautiful resort of Alcudia, known for its beautiful views, friendly atmosphere and plenty of activities throughout the season for all ages. This is a huge reason for its ever-growing popularity amongst holiday-makers, which makes it a must-visit destination on the island. Because of Alcudia’s appeal to an international audience, It’s safe to say that this resort is not short on places to eat and is arguably a foodie’s paradise. Diners are spoiled for choice with international cuisines such as Chinese buffets, Indian restaurants, Italian pizzerias, American theme restaurants and British pub grub. But if you’re looking to immerse yourself in Spanish and Mallorcan gastronomy then here are 5 restaurants in Alcudia you need to visit.

Disclaimer: In the interest of clarity I was invited to Alcudia as part of a Press Trip, all the restaurants below were part of my itinerary, however, the recommendations below are based on my own unbiased opinion. This post also contains affiliate links, this does not cost you any extra money, but if you do click on the link and make a purchase, I will earn a small commission. Old Town Alcudia

This medieval town has played an essential role within Alcudia dating as far back as the Roman Empire. Fast forward to today, any visitor that walks through the main gates of this walled city will have noticed that a lot of the area has been lovingly restored back to its former glory with a dash of modern flair.

As you walk through the beautiful cobbled streets, you’ll notice that no street is the same. Some streets are residential, some have hotels, while others have historical and religious significance such as the church of Sant Jaume. On Sundays and Tuesdays, you’ll find a market set up throughout much of the town, where you’ll be able to try fresh produce and buy local souvenirs.

Our main focus for this part of the post is the town square of the Old Town of Alcudia. It’s here that you will find all the bars, cafes and restaurants, and if you’re lucky you may be serenaded by a Mariachi or two. It is this part of Alcudia where the first of our recommended 5 restaurants that I recommend for you to dine and experience yourself. But before I speak more about Restaurante Cellar C’an Costa, I would like to give a shout-out to Restaurante Fonda Llabrés as although we didn’t get a chance to eat there, we were given a complimentary glass of wine and their generosity didn’t end there, as they kindly allowed us up to their secret balcony which is known for having the best views in Alcudia. (The picture below was taken from that balcony)

Restaurants in Alcudia: #1. Restaurante Cellar C’an Costa

In a prime location within the old town of Alcudia, Restaurante Cellar C’an Costa is the oldest restaurant in the walled city. This building is not short of history having earnt its notoriety as a house owned by famous Mallorcan poet Miquel Costa Llobera in 1594. It wasn’t until 1983, that it was then converted into a family-owned restaurant that is still thriving today.

I’ve only just discovered this hidden gem whilst on this current trip to the island. But in my personal opinion, C’an Costa is one of the best restaurants in Alcudia for traditional Mallorcan and Spanish cuisine serving locally sourced food and drink. With recipes that include tapas, fish, meat and dessert dishes handed down throughout the generations of this family-owned restaurant.

As you enter the building you can’t help but feel and notice that this restaurant has character. With its high ceilings, stoned walls and floors, all tastefully decorated with historical family antiques. It exudes elegance and class, enough to set the tone of a romantic atmosphere with its ambient candle-lit tables, stone statues and water features.

Everything we tried was fantastic as you can see in the image below, however, if I could recommend a must-try dish for this restaurant it has to be the bacalhau. The dish is made up of slightly salted cod gratin in garlic and honey which was just mouth-wateringly tasty.

Port d’Alcudia

Once a small fishing port, Port d’Alcudia has since been transformed into the popular tourist destination we see today. Known for its golden sands, shallow waters and pretty picturesque views, Port d’Alcudia is never short of tourists during the summer season; with hotels, shops, restaurants, bars and nightclubs all within walking distance. There is always something going on within the Port for both residents and international tourists alike including live entertainment, festivals and events throughout the summer months.

The Bay of Alcudia is 5 miles (8.5km) long, and as I mentioned before, Alcudia has a lot of picturesque views. In fact, one of the best and most unique views is from Botel Alcudiamar where you can stay as a guest and view the bay from the infinity pool in the hotel or pop in for a cocktail or two at the bar and enjoy the sunset. Botel Alcudiamar which is under 10 minute’s walk from Bistro Mar and Miramar, which are two of the three restaurants included in the next part of our 5 Restaurants in Alcudia to try.

Restaurants in Alcudia: #2. Bistro Mar Alcudia

Bistro Mar can be found in the marina of Puerto d’Alcudia, surrounded by beautiful panoramic views, that include the mountains, the bay, the marina and luxurious yachts and boats. With a choice to dine either inside or outside, I would suggest on a nice sunny day, which Alcudia is in an abundance of, especially during the summer season, that you should consider dining outside, just for that millionaire feel of fine dining without breaking the bank.

Known for its well-established reputation of serving international and local cuisines, it provides various meat dishes that are cooked using a josper oven. There is also a wide selection of fresh fish, seafood and of course its paella dishes.

Bistro Mar was one of my favourite restaurants to dine at during my summer seasons working in Alcudia, so it was nice to see it still there years later. During this recent visit to Alcudia, having strayed from my go-to dish for this restaurant of mouth-watering lamb chops, we were introduced to a more Mediterranean-style menu starting with bread, olives and aioli, followed by calamari and padrón peppers.

For the main course, we were presented with two different paella dishes. The first was a traditional seafood paella known as paella de marisco and the second, a first for me, was a different style of paella which just like the previous dish contained seafood and rice but with a slight difference as it was black in colour because of the addition of the squid ink which has a distinct taste and acts as a natural food colouring. All of this was very filling, but no matter how full up you are let’s be honest there’s always room for dessert. My personal favourite without a shadow of a doubt was a homemade heavenly chocolate cake with cream and ice cream, a delicious classic that was a lovely end to the meal.

Restaurants in Alcudia: #3. Miramar

Our third restaurant is also in the bay of Port d’Alcúdia and two minutes from the instagrammable Alcudia sign. founded in 1871 as a tavern, later renovated into a hotel, and then finally during the 1980s it became the ever-popular restaurant Miramar that we know today. Miramar is another family-run restaurant in the popular resort of Alcudia dating back over 7 generations, with traditional family recipes handed down over 100 years.

Miramar offers both internal and external seating areas; the inside of the restaurant is stylishly decorated with portraits depicting the family’s history in Alcudia. Whilst the outside area faces the harbour and the Alcudia sign. Whether you choose to sit inside or out you can be certain your dining experience will be equally as pleasant and enjoyable.

We were spoilt for choice at this restaurant, with our starters consisting of bread olives and aioli, followed by padrón peppers, croquetas de jamón (ham and cheese croquette), Gambas al Ajillo (Garlic Prawns), calamares a la mallorcan con sobrasada (sautéed squid with sobrasada). For our mains, we were offered either a fresh seafood dish or a straight-from-the-grill meat dish. I opted for the solomillo de ternera (beef tenderloin) served with chips and for dessert, we had sortido de postres de la casa which was a tasty assortment of all the desserts on offer at Miramar.

I honestly cannot fault anything we had on the menu. Every bite was just as tasty and filling as the next and it’s easy to see why this restaurant is so popular amongst holidaymakers and locals alike.

Restaurants in Alcudia: #4. Bistro Del Jardin

Hidden away on a quiet residential street in Alcudia, opposite Hotel Astoria Playa is Bistro Del Jardin the fourth of our restaurants in Alcudia to try. Which is part of the De Castro Gastronomy mini-empire and is where Macarena De Castro the first female chef in Mallorca to be awarded a prestigious Michelin star in 2012 first started.

As you walk through the floral archway, you’ll step into a garden oasis which is the perfect tranquil setting for diners to enjoy a meal. Although the restaurant was fairly small in size it was still spacious enough to move around with ease and even at its busiest, and although busy they still managed to provide excellent high-class service that really added to the overall experience.

My group and I were given a set menu to try. Our starters consisted of freshly baked bread, aioli, and extra virgin olive oil from a local producer Oli Soliverllas, whose estate we had visited earlier in the week. This was followed by huevos rotos con sobrasada (translated as broken egg with potato in a creamy tomato sauce), Croquetas de carne guisada (Homemade stewed beef and chicken croquettes). We then were served Pulpo a la parrilla con mahonesa de Olivas (Grilled octopus on mashed potato and black olive mayonnaise).

For the mains, half of my group had Calamar de potera a la plancha con verduritas y alioli de ajo asado (Grilled Squid with Veggies and Roasted Garlic Aioli) and I had the Solomillo a la mostaza dulce (Grilled beef tenderloin with sweet mustard sauce, tarragon mashed potato). It has to be said, I thoroughly enjoyed my main, and it was the sweet mustard sauce that really stood out above all else we had tried so far that evening.

To complete the night we decided to finish our meal with a dessert that was selected for us, Tierra de chocolate (which is a creamy chocolate brownie, with salted coffee). I won’t lie, it was so delightfully tasty that I could have had a second and third helping of it given the opportunity.

Club De Golf Alcanada

Although classed as part of the Port d’Alcudia, Club De Golf Alcanada is away from the main tourist side of the port and sat opposite the Alcanada Lighthouse (which is one of 14 lighthouses across Mallorca).

The Golf club itself was founded by Hans-Peter Porsche and the 18-hole course was designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr, son of Legendary golf course designer Robert Trent Jones. The club has played host to many well-known golf tournaments and offers yearly memberships and day rates. The golf club provides many services and facilities including a golf academy, golf shop, a bar and of course its restaurant. This brings us to the last but by no means least of our 5 restaurants in Alcudia that you need to try.

Restaurants in Alcudia: #5. Club De Golf Alcanada Restaurant

The Club De Golf Alcanada Restaurant overlooks both the beautiful coastline and Alcanada Lighthouse as well as the pretty greens of the golf course all from the terrace. The restaurant, itself, although on the golf club land, is actually privately owned, and so it welcomes both members and non-members alike to dine.

The hostess and the waiting staff of this restaurant were fantastic and my group and I were made to feel very welcome with their friendly and attentive manner. This was particularly lovely because whilst we were there the restaurant was extremely busy and so it meant all the more to us that they went the extra mile despite this.

With the menu itself, diners are spoiled for choice with the option of a variety of starters, sweet treats, sandwiches, tapas, burgers, seafood, meat dishes, vegetarian options as well as pizzas and pasta dishes. We were given a fantastic choice to try from the menu all prepared fresh to order which included aioli, bread and olives with a choice of either salad or mussels. For my main course, which I highly recommend, was a melt-in-your-mouth beef tenderloin served with a creamy sauce and accompanied by roast Mediterranean-style vegetables and potatoes. Finally, for dessert I had homemade Mallorcan cheesecake served with ice cream and fruit which was so good I would happily have had a second portion of.
